The Best British Souvenirs
In a way, giving a little piece of the place you call home to someone else
can strengthen the bond between you and them, your country and theirs.
This world-famous series written by British author J.K Rowling is loved by many.
The first book would make a thoughtful souvenir for recipients looking to improve their English, while socks, key-chains, notebooks, mugs, and other merchandise allow others to show off their House Pride! Just don't assume that everyone is #TeamGryffindor!
Other British authors:
Roald Dahl, Jane Austen, William Shakespeare, J.R. Tolkien, Agatha Christie, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
Sweets, chocolate, biscuits
As delicious as British chocolate is, it runs the risk of melting in hot climates. Small, cheap and nostalgic hard sweets like Love Hearts and Gobstoppers are more likely to last. When it comes to biscuits, they all taste great, especially if you bring some PG Tips or Yorkshire Tea bags to have something equally as British to dunk the biscuits in!
Other British chocolates: Kit Kat, Twix, Smarties, Terry's Chocolate Orange, Galaxy, Cadbury, Quality Street, Aero
Other British sweeties: Jelly babies, Flying saucers, Starbursts
Other British biccies: Jaffa cakes, Bourbon, Hobnobs, Rich tea, Custard Cream, McVitie's Penguin
The UK has some very iconic alcoholic beverages.
A large bottle of Tanqueray Gin or Glenfiddich Scotch is a great present for a group. However, there are also mini bottles of whiskey (Irish), whisky (Scottish), gin, cider and beer available in major supermarkets. Be sure to properly protect the glass bottles when packing them in your check-in luggage.
Other British alcohol: Talisker (Scotch), Jameson (Whiskey), Beefeater (Gin), Aspall (Cider), London Porter (Beer), Crabbie's (Alcoholic Ginger Beer)
There is only so much you can bring with you, but I hope this list gives you a few souvenir ideas for your next trip! For those traveling to the UK can use this list as reference for things to experience during your trip! Those emigrating to another country can refer to this list when packing items to help reduce homesickness! Also check out my list of Japanese souvenir ideas! You know, just in case you’re in the area.
